No Compromise #52, T. S. Eliot’s ”The Hollow Men,” Part 2
Jenny and I discuss one of our favorite poems by 20th century modernist poet, T. S. Eliot, "The Hollow Men." In many ways this poem is expressing Eliot's near-despair in the journey that led him to Christ, as in his post-conversion poem, "The Journey of the Magi," which we looked at over the last two weeks. We might almost say that this poem represents "the cold coming we had of it. Just the worst time of the year for a journey. The ways deep and the weather sharp, the very dead of winter," leading to that encounter with the Christ-child that was, "you may say, SATISFACTORY."
